Running for Mental Health, Children's Books with Positive Male Stories, Substack Recommendations, Next Good Men Event
Welcome to GOOD NEWS FOR MEN. I’m James Routledge and JACK is a platform to evolve the conversation around men and masculinity. We shine a light on good men, raise up positive male role models and explore the deeper stuff too.
GOOD NEWS FOR MEN 💪🏼
Marcus Skeet runs the length of Britain to boost mental health awareness. 17‑year‑old Marcus Skeet (AKA thehullboy) completed the 874-mile Land’s End to John o’Groats run in 58 days, raising over £157,000 for Mind. He overcame depression, OCD, suicidal thoughts, and weight gain, using the run as therapy, not only for himself but for his Dad, who’s battling dementia.
Children’s and YA books champion male friendship and emotional depth. We love a good read don’t we? The 2025 Carnegie Medals spotlighted books like Glasgow Boys and King of Nothing, which explore male friendship, vulnerability, and emotional growth. This marks a shift in children’s literature away from macho monsters and kid spies, a new portrayal of boy.
“Therapy‑bro summer”. Therapy is trending among men, dubbed “therapy‑bro summer.” Men’s openess to therapy is rising partly due to pressure from the opposite sex. 55% of Gen Z women say they’d avoid men unwilling to try therapy. The message? Emotional intelligence is attractive and essential if you want to find a partner.
1,000 Good Men Event, 15th July, 6pm - 7.30pm ONLINE. Bringing a community of 1,000 Good Men together to change the world and collectively inspire men to take action to support men and boys. This is a movement and 1,000 Good Men will be at the heart of it.

Unhooked Habits. Jeremy is writing about porn and porn addiction. Sharing his story and showing that challenging a compulsion around porn can lead to growth in all areas of your life.
Conscious Men Berlin. Petter Fessel is rounding up all of the men’s circle events in Berlin. What a great idea. Who’ll do this for the UK?

Founder’s Note
I went to my first men’s circle last night. I liked it and found it much easier than I thought I would to open up. Being with similar men in a shared space together was uplifting and a relief. It was organised by Men’s Circle and facilitated by Pasco, they’ve ran an open circle on a Wednesday for 5 years now.
