The history of "man" and masculinity
Have things always "been this way"?
Masculinity is a concept. It’s not a fixed fate or something which forever stands the test of time, unchanging. Concepts are fluid, and often highly subjective. That means they can, and often do, change over time as society and beliefs change.
And yet, men have been taught only one way of being. One way of existing. You’re either a man, or you’re not. But where have these lessons come from, and why? And, importantly, how do we begin to write a new story for the future of men?
