BOYS WILL BE...
Carers, Teachers, Nurses...Festival of The Boy Launches, Men in Mind training by Movember, Dads are Dads not Babysitters. Good News for Men.
Welcome to GOOD NEWS FOR MEN. I’m James Routledge and JACK is a platform to evolve the conversation around men and masculinity. We shine a light on good men and raise up positive male role models.
GOOD NEWS FOR MEN 💪🏼
Festival of the Boy Launches. Festival of the Girl started in 2019 as a mission to inspire Generation A girls (aged 7-11). Now they are launching Festival of the Boy and came out with a bang with their boys will be…. campaign.
Movember Launches Men in Mind Training. Currently available in Australia and planning to roll out to other countries - this is an upskill training for mental health practitioners working with men. I wrote about this exact issue last week (and here). Great to see change coming as we accept the complexities and conditioning in men and the need for nuanced support for men.
More Voices Rally Against Showing Adolescence in Schools. Tell me you don’t understand teenage boys without telling me you don’t understand teenage boys. The idea to show Adolescence (A Netflix Drama) in schools was a knee jerk reaction that showed much emotional fragility and fear. This piece in iNews documents activity on an incel website is already showing that the widespread acclaim of the show has increased activity on these sites. This demonstrates that demonising teenager boys will never be the answer. Proper education and support is needed for boys - not telling them they’re monsters.
Dads are Dads, Not Babysitters. This great piece of creative by VaynerMedia for Stokke - really tapped into something.
This is a Dad. “This carousel tapped into an increasingly important issue — gender disparities in parenting and dads demanding to be valued— using a social-first format to drive impressions and conversation.
Working with Stokke has opened my eyes to how, in many EU countries, fathers are still seen as the “secondary parent” — and the laws often reflect that. In places like the UK, Italy, and Spain, paternity leave is still around JUST two weeks.
Interestingly, 85% of male managers say they want to spend more time with their children and support mandatory parental leave. This growing sentiment has contributed to the rise of communities like The Dad Shift in the UK, which advocate for equitable paternity leave and recently launched the campaign Two Weeks Isn’t Enough.” - Vayner Media.
