Therapy has been one of the most life-changing things I’ve ever done.

It was also one of the most daunting.

Particularly as a man.

The concept of talking…about my feelings…with a stranger? Absolutely no thank you.

When I was really struggling, it was the thing that ultimately helped to pull me out of that funk.

But it took a long, long time for me to get to the point of accepting that I wanted to go.

Somebody suggested it to me as a potential course of action, and I reacted with anger - anger that they’d even think I needed “that” kind of help.

But then the idea was planted, and I stewed on it for another couple of months before coming round to the idea.

Therapy isn’t for everyone, and it’s also not the only tool available to people who are looking to work on themselves.

But if it’s something that you’re thinking about exploring, these are 6 lessons I’ve taken from going through therapy, specifically as a man.
